Over the years, electric vehicles have become increasingly popular due to their efficiency, convenience, and environmentally friendly nature. In the past, it was hard for some to imagine how far electric vehicles would go. There are now many different electric pickup trucks on the market, and the Chevrolet Silverado EV is about to enter the race. The reveal of the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV is exciting news for drivers who crave the capability and power of Silverado’s in the past. We can now learn all about the new Silverado EV and marvel at its brilliant design and how it differs from gas or diesel-powered Chevy trucks.
The first thing that drivers will want to know is what the 2024 Silverado EV will provide in terms of capability and performance. You’ll have two powertrain options for the 2024 model, with more options coming in the next model year. You won’t have to sacrifice power with this new EV with either option. For private customers, the only option is the Silverado EV RST that has two motors. It delivers up to 664 horsepower and 780 lb.-ft. of torque when it’s put into Wide Open Watts which is its sport mode. It’s important to note that the WT has a maximum towing rating of 8,000 pounds and a payload of 1,200 pounds. Then, there’s the Chevy Silverado EV WT which also has two motors. The WT delivers 510 horsepower and 615 lb.-ft. of torque and has four-wheel drive. This model has a maximum towing rating of 10,000 pounds and a payload of 1,300 pounds.
Now, let’s talk range. Both the Silverado EV RST and WT have the same size battery pack, so their range will be the same. Their estimated range is 400 miles, and the battery offers up to 350-kW DC fast charging. Another benefit of driving an EV like the Silverado EV is the power outlet options. The two available options are the 240-volt outlet and the 10.2 kW outlet.
As for its design, you’ll notice significant differences in the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV. A larger interior was achieved by moving the cowl forward which was possible without a powertrain in the front. There’s also no need for a grille, which creates a smooth look to the front of the Silverado EV. Other changes include the cab being shifted forward, a larger middle section, and a lowered hood. As you can imagine, these changes have influenced the interior as well. You’ll have plenty of cargo room and storage options with all its extra space, including the front trunk that offers an available power-opening lid. The length of the truck bed is 71 inches but can be extended with the Midgate that allows you to fold down the rear glass and 60/40 split rear seats.
